Ok, so I completely BITE as a blogger lately. What can I say? Moving house is kicking my ASS.
The good news is that I have more than half of it all unpacked and put to rights and even pictures on some of the walls!
And my dad kindly brought over a twenty foot ladder to try and clear the bird nest from the dryer vent. My vent was entirely blocked to the point that three cycles would not dry a dish towel. And that meant trips to the laundromat, which was kind of a scary experience and NOT cheap, either. Good news! The dryer was not blocked by a nest.
Bad news! It was blocked by SEVEN nests. Seven bird nests. Every year that grackle would build a new nest, just shoving the old one further back. I cannot understand how the previous tenant didn't burn the house down.
And oh! Have we had entertainment at the many discoveries, such as all the broken glass around the house. This was confusing to me until I noticed the dents in the siding.... right above the piles of glass.
Oh. Apparently the household children amused themselves by throwing drinking glasses against the side of the house a la Callahan's Crosstime Saloon... only, you know... outside.
We're still waiting on the replacement oven, which had to be ordered.
Jacob thinks the new house is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabulous and can now crawl at lightning speed and is mastering cruising.
I'm low on sleep, sore & zombie-like but nearly finished. Back soon, I promise.

Good to hear from you! Been wondering how the move was going. We bought the "perfect" house about a year ago. Now we are busy gutting it room by room, trying to fix everything the previous Bob Villa left behind.
omg, my MOTHER bought the ultimate Bob Villa house when I was in high school. It's still neighborhood legend... it had.... a PADDED BEDROOM. (cries) no jack. Cheap naughahyde on the walls. plus a homemade loft bed that wasn't even 6 inches below the ceiling. Oh the humanity!!
wow--- 7 birds nests??? I would faint. I am terrified of birds.
Aren't new houses fun?! This is our 3rd summer here in this house and it's still a work in progress. This year we're wokring on outside. My neighbor likes to just walk into my yard and have a look around without asking first. Kind of creepy, so new fence is going up to take care of that. And new chimney is being put up, we found a big hole in it this year. By the time we're 100 or so, it'll look like we live here.
Just one of the many things I hate about moving.
See, there was the silver lining to Katrina. Last time I moved I had nothing to unpack because I had...nothing.
Hope you enjoy it - planning on painting or changing things around?
Seven nests! Bwaahahaha! That's fantastic.
I'm with you...moving is not fun! But glad you are getting unpacked and settled in! We'll be waiting for more hilarious (or bizarre) stories that only you can provide...
I hate the unpacking part of moving ( and birds nest)but a new house is always fun...
The thought of that many birds freaks me the crap out.
Good to hear from you! I do have to say weird things do happen to you!
I am sure this will be a great place to live and build memories. Bird's nest is a good omen.
Man, if I was that bird, I would have figured, "hey, that old nest is good, why bother building a new one?"
Apparently one of the many reasons I'm not a bird.
And the glasses? Seriously? People let their kids entertain themselves by throwing glasses against the side of a house? And yet people get mad at me when I hand my toddler matches, sheesh! ;)
Glad you're back! Seriously been missing your hilarity!
Glad to have you back.
See? You're having fun already!
Blessings.
Ooooooooonly you. Freaking birds.
So glad you're digging through it all okay. Let's hope the glass isn't an indicator of hoodlums hanging around to come.
this will be my posts for a while in July. So not looking forward to the packing or unpacking..but atleast going to my Mom's house means I won't have to worry about all the "interesting things" you're finding.
I want new Jacob pictures...PLEASE
I suck as a blogger lately, too, but I don't have a wonderful excuse like moving into a new home.
Isn't it funny (and by funny I mean MADDENING) how you find tons of little things wrong AFTER you've moved into a new place?
Hey - how the heck are you?
Did you fall inside a box and get lost?
Patiently...
..........
....waiting.....
